Firmwave was founded in 2015 by Adrian Burns, Ciaran Burns, and Fintan McGovern and quickly became an Enterprise Ireland High Potential Start Up (HPSU) company with TechIreland listing Firmwave as an innovative IoT technology company to watch in 2018. Firmwave gained comprehensive market penetration having developed connected smart devices for HealthBeacon, Vodafone, Glen Dimplex, and many other clients.

In 2019, Firmwave was acquired by Taoglas, to allow Taoglas to extend advanced IoT design services and component solutions to its many customers.

Since that time, we have grown from strength to strength, with the development of EDGE Connect, a next-generation IoT hardware and software platform that provides full cellular, Bluetooth, and on-board sensors. This innovative platform enables the creation of custom-built IoT solutions that serve a variety of industries such as connected health, industrial, and transport.

In 2024, TxWireless was born to allow it to operate as an independent brand and have more visibility and autonomy from Taoglas.
